Before you subscribe: quick answers

Not to be confused with Claude: Cláudia (webclaudia.com) has no connection with Claude, the AI assistant by Anthropic.

Who is Cláudia for? Adults (18+) who speak Portuguese, mostly in Brazil, and want to practice speaking English, Spanish, French, Italian or German.

Not for: people who don't read Portuguese (the app interface is in Portuguese), people who want to learn Portuguese, and people who need a certificate.

What Cláudia is

Cláudia (webclaudia.com) is a language app made in Brazil for people who speak Portuguese. The idea is simple: most people who studied a language for years understand much more than they can say, so the app puts speaking at the center. You talk out loud with an AI tutor called Cláudia, drawn as a small cloud with purple headphones, and she answers out loud.

Cláudia is software, not a person, and the AI can make mistakes. It is not a course with a certificate and it does not guarantee fluency. Use is for adults (18+).

How a conversation works

You pick a topic and talk. She answers by voice and, when something comes out wrong, she points it out right away and gives you the right sentence to repeat. When you can't talk out loud, the same conversation continues by text.

Tell me about yourself. How old are you?

I have 25 years

Almost! In English, age goes with the verb to be: I’m 25 years old. Can you say it again?

I’m 25 years old

That’s it! Now tell me: what do you do?

Sample conversation in the all-English mode

That sample is the all-English mode. With “Com uma mão do português” (with a little help from Portuguese), she explains the mistake in Portuguese when needed, which is the easier start for beginners. With “Tudo em inglês” (all in English), the whole conversation stays in the language you are practicing.

On a voice call there are two ways to take turns: “Um toque abre, outro fecha” (one tap opens the microphone, another closes it) or automatic, where she notices your silence and answers.

What there is to practice

Three moods, including the strict one

You choose how Cláudia talks to you. The names below are the ones shown in the app, in Portuguese.

Cláudia in the Céu limpo mood, a white cloud laughing

“Céu limpo” (clear sky)

Calm and patient

Slipped up? No problem: you repeat it together until it sounds natural.

Cláudia in the Nublado mood, a thoughtful cloud

“Nublado” (cloudy)

Direct, no fluff

A one-word “yes” does not count: she wants a full sentence, with subject and verb.

Cláudia in the Tempestade mood, a dark cloud with lightning

“Tempestade” (storm)

The strict one, 18+ only

The tough teacher, with swearing. Before turning it on, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

Languages

English, Spanish, French, Italian and German, always for people who speak Portuguese. English has the full set described above; in the other four you practice the voice and text conversation with instant correction. Details in Languages on Cláudia.
